FullCapture Privacy Policy

Effective Date: January 1, 2024

1. Introduction

Welcome to FullCapture ("we", "us", or "our"). FullCapture is a Chrome extension designed to help users capture full-page screenshots of web pages effortlessly. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal information is handled securely and responsibly. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices concerning the collection, use, and protection of data when you use our FullCapture extension.

2. Data Collection and Use

a. Personal Information

FullCapture does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. The extension operates entirely on your local machine and processes data within your browser. We do not send any data to external servers or third parties.

b. Website Content

The extension accesses the content of web pages solely for the purpose of capturing screenshots as initiated by you. This content is processed locally within your browser and is not transmitted or shared with any external parties. The captured content is used only to generate the screenshot and is not stored permanently by the extension.

c. User Preferences and Temporary Data

FullCapture stores minimal data in your browser's local storage to remember your preferences, such as the selected file type (PNG or JPG) for downloads. Additionally, the extension temporarily stores the captured screenshot data URL in `chrome.storage.local` to facilitate the preview and download functionalities. This information is stored locally and is not accessible by us or any third parties. The temporary screenshot data is removed when you close the preview page or download the screenshot.

3. Permissions Used

FullCapture requires certain permissions to function effectively:

  • activeTab: Allows the extension to access the content of the currently active tab when you initiate a screenshot capture.

  • scripting: Enables the extension to inject necessary scripts into web pages for scrolling and capturing content beyond the visible area.

  • downloads: Permits the extension to save captured screenshots to your device.

  • storage: Used to store user preferences like the selected file type and temporary data such as the captured screenshot data URL.

  • tabs: Allows the extension to open the preview page in a new tab and retrieve information about the active tab, such as its URL, to generate filenames for saved screenshots.

  • Host Permissions (<all_urls>): Required to capture screenshots on any website you visit.

These permissions are essential for the core functionality of FullCapture and are used solely for the purpose of capturing and saving screenshots as initiated by the user.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

FullCapture does not use cookies or any tracking technologies. The extension does not track your browsing activities or collect any information about your usage patterns. Each screenshot capture is an isolated action that does not contribute to any form of user profiling or tracking.

5. Third-Party Services and Libraries

FullCapture does not integrate with any external third-party services or use external libraries that collect data. The extension uses built-in Chrome APIs and standard web technologies provided by the Chrome extension framework. It also utilizes some prebuilt components from the shadcn/ui library, which is included within the extension and does not collect or transmit any data. All functionalities are implemented using these local resources, ensuring that your data remains within your browser environment.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not share, sell, or disclose any information to third parties. Since FullCapture does not collect or store personal data, there is no data to share. The extension's operations are entirely local to your device, and no information is transmitted externally.

7. Data Security

All processing occurs locally on your device. As such, your data remains secure within your own system. We recommend that you ensure your device is protected against unauthorized access. Additionally, FullCapture implements a content security policy to enhance security by restricting the sources of content that can be loaded by the extension. This policy helps prevent potential security vulnerabilities by controlling which resources the extension can load and execute.

8. Children's Privacy

FullCapture is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has used FullCapture and provided personal information, please contact us so that we can take necessary actions.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your privacy.

We will make every effort to respond to your inquiry promptly and address your concerns to the best of our ability.

11. Extension Icon

FullCapture uses custom icons (16x16, 48x48, and 128x128 pixels) for visual representation in the Chrome browser. These icons are stored locally within the extension and are used solely for identification purposes within the Chrome browser interface. They are not used for tracking or data collection purposes.

12. Logging

FullCapture implements comprehensive logging for debugging and error tracking purposes. These logs are stored locally in your browser's console and are not transmitted to any external servers. The logs may include technical information about the extension's operations, such as capture progress, error messages, and performance metrics, but do not contain any personal information or captured screenshot data. These logs are accessible only to you through your browser's developer tools and are not collected or accessed by us.

13. Image Processing

FullCapture includes functionality to convert captured screenshots between PNG and JPG formats. This conversion process occurs entirely within your browser and does not involve any external services or data transmission. The image data is processed locally using your device's resources, ensuring that the content of your screenshots remains private and secure.

14. Artifact Creation and Management

FullCapture may create and manage artifacts during its operation. These artifacts are temporary files or data structures used to process and generate the final screenshot. All artifacts are created, processed, and stored locally within your browser's secure environment. They are automatically deleted once they are no longer needed for the current operation, typically after the screenshot has been saved or the preview window is closed.

15. Browser Integration

FullCapture integrates with your Chrome browser to provide its functionality. This integration allows the extension to interact with the current web page, capture its content, and save the resulting screenshot. While this requires access to the page content, it is important to note that this access is temporary and limited to the specific actions you initiate. The extension does not persistently monitor or store information about the web pages you visit.

16. User Control and Data Access

You have full control over when FullCapture is activated and which pages are captured. The extension only operates when you specifically trigger it to take a screenshot. At any time, you can uninstall the extension, which will remove all locally stored preferences and temporary data associated with FullCapture from your browser.

17. Compliance and Legal Considerations

While FullCapture itself does not collect personal data, we remind users that capturing and storing screenshots of web pages may be subject to copyright laws and the terms of service of the websites being captured. Users are responsible for ensuring they have the right to capture and use screenshots of web content, especially for purposes beyond personal use.

By using FullCapture, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree to its terms. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the FullCapture extension.
